Maximus Mouse started as a way to pass helpful tools from stoic philosophy down to the next generation in a way that doesn't feel too cumbersome. It's easy to assume that children aren't ready for complicated topics topics like philosophy, but one of the most asked questions from my kids has always been...
"What's the meaning of life?"
One of the main questions in stoicism is "How does one live a good life?"
To me, that seems like a conversation that can and should be approached at any age. Despite being aimed at younger children, it is my belief that readers of any age might find themselves benefitting from the words of the ancient stoic philosophers that can be found in these pages, wrapped up in engaging metaphors and colourful hand-drawn illustrations.
These stories combine loveable and admirable characters with valuable life lessons, fostering curiosity, resilience, and emotional intelligence in children. It's the Maximus mission to strive to inspire the next generation of thinkers, helping them navigate life's challenges with confidence.
Philosophy can be, and should be, for everyone.
